About Me

Hello and welcome to my about me page.

Here's my story.  I was born July 11th, 1963 in Del Rio Texas.  My dad was in the Air Force as an aircraft mechanic.  He was stationed in Okinawa Japan so we lived there until I was 5 years old.  Then my dad was  stationed in Miami Florida where my three brothers, sister and I grew up until I was a junior in high school.  In Miami, my dad was honorably discharged from the Air Force and was working for National Airlines as an aircraft mechanic.  They were going to close so we moved to Conroe Texas because my dad got a job with Pan Am Airlines in Houston Texas.  I graduated from McCullough High School in The Woodlands, Texas.

In Conroe and Spring Texas, I was working at a restaurant chain and became an assistant manager.  When I was nineteen, my parents wanted to move to Corpus Christi Texas  but I had a good paying job and didn't want to quit and move so I got my own apartment.  The restaurant eventually closed down and I missed my family so I moved to Corpus Christi Texas.  My son was born there in 1988.  I was a single mom for about two years working restaurant and retail.  That was tough!

Then I met my husband of 25 years now.  After 2 months of being married, my husband decided to join the Army.  He was gone for 11 months in basic training and then training for his MOS.  He was a vehicle maintenance mechanic.  What a honeymoon.  My son and I lived with my parents until my husband completed training.  He was stationed in Germany so we lived there for 4 years. Our daughter was born in Frankfurt Germany in 1988.   After that, my husband was stationed at Fort Hood in Killeen Texas.  He went to Somalia for 5 months and when he came home, they wanted to send him to Korea for three years unaccompanied. We did not want that so my husband was honorably discharged from the Army and we moved to San Antonio Texas where we live now.

My husband has been a mechanic working mostly on industrial vehicles for 25 years now.  I have worked mostly in the administrative field.  Raising our two kids and having to work outside the home was not easy.  I didn't like having to leave my kids with a sitter and then unattended when they were old enough.  When they were sick, I felt bad about missing work.  I worked full time and still had so much to take care of at home.  I was so tired and had so much on my plate that I felt like I didn't have much time for my family and when I did, it wasn't quality time.

For 15 years I searched for work at home programs to help solve the problem.  I have been in so many with no luck.  One of the reasons was that we needed money right away and it takes time to start and grow a business so I had to go get a real job as some people would say.

My daughter is now a single mom and has an 18 month old son.  She works full time at the mall as a security guard during the week and goes to school on the weekends to become a police officer.  Because daycare expenses are outrageous, I take care of him so I am with him a lot.  I'm so glad that I have finally found a way to make money at home and be able to spend quality time with my family.

I could never really say "I love what I do" until now.  I wouldn't even call it a job or work.  I love it so much, I would do it for free although getting paid for it makes it all the better!
